Quick answer

Choose Synergy Viva with the Genie add-on when the clinic wants AI assistance inside Synergy's installed repertory, reference-library, graph, and patient-management environment. Choose Homeo AI when the central requirement is a browser-based, note-first workflow that turns ordinary consultation notes into an editable structure, exposes candidate rubrics and source passages for review, documents a differential, and connects that reasoning to follow-ups.

The buying distinction is integration versus workflow focus. Genie is an optional module added to a broader Synergy Viva desktop configuration. Homeo AI is designed around the narrative-to-review path. An established MacRepertory or Synergy user may value continuity with licensed books and familiar analysis tools. A clinic starting from handwritten or loosely structured notes may care more about correction time, transparency, and access without a large local installation.

What was verified on 24 July 2026

Synergy's official MacRepertory and ReferenceWorks notice says Synergy Viva launched in April 2025 as its next generation of homeopathic software. The same notice says technical-support tickets for MacRepertory and ReferenceWorks stopped on 30 April 2025. That makes Viva a current migration question for legacy users, not merely a renamed copy of the old programs. The reviewed notice is linked in the sources below.

The current official Synergy Viva support page, linked below, describes Windows 10 or 11 on 64-bit hardware, at least 12 GB of memory, and 50 GB of free SSD space. For Mac it lists 8 to 16 GB of memory, at least 50 GB of free SSD space, and either an Intel Core i5 from 2018 or later or Apple Silicon M1 through M4 with Rosetta 2. The vendor recommends using its free technical support for installation. Verify the exact operating-system release and hardware because a compatibility list is not proof that a particular clinic setup, printer, backup, or add-on will work.

The support page also publishes current core release notes. They describe customized filtering across Global Search, the Repertory Module, and Reference Library; an updated interface; expanded search parameters; a redesigned Kingdom Graph Module; and bug fixes. Earlier notes on the same page describe patient-management, clipboard, graph, filtering, and search changes. These are vendor statements about product behavior and should be reproduced with the clinic's own configuration.

The official Viva add-on catalogue, linked below, displayed Synergy Genie at $500 when reviewed. It displayed the five-module bundle, consisting of Genie, Rep Maker, Note Sync, Deep View, and Smart Reader, at $1,100. The other displayed add-on prices were $100 for Rep Maker, $350 for Note Sync, $300 for Deep View, and $50 for Smart Reader.

Those figures do not represent the total cost of a working Synergy Viva installation. The core edition, repertories, reference books, translations, support arrangement, taxes, regional offers, and upgrades may be separate. Ask a Synergy representative for an itemized quote and do not combine an older MacRepertory marketplace price with today's add-on page.

Where Synergy Viva and Genie are genuinely stronger

Synergy Viva's strongest proposition is continuity inside a substantial desktop library. A practitioner can work with repertories, reference books, graphs, search, patient management, and optional expert modules in one installed environment. That matters when the clinician has already purchased content, learned the interface, developed a method around specific analysis views, and accumulated historical files.

Genie can also reduce context switching if its assistance is connected to the sources and screens already used in Viva. The clinic does not have to treat AI as a separate general chatbot with no knowledge of the installed workflow. The exact integration should still be tested: confirm which prompts can link to repertory content, which sources are named, how suggestions move into a clipboard or analysis, and whether rejected suggestions remain auditable.

The modular catalogue is another strength. A practitioner who wants Note Sync or Deep View without every other feature can buy a named module, while the bundle offers a lower combined price than purchasing all five displayed add-ons separately. Modular buying is valuable only when the clinic defines the job of each module first. Unused modules add cost and training without improving the case path.

Synergy Viva is therefore the stronger fit when the buying checklist starts with a deep installed library, a familiar analysis grid, long-term desktop continuity, and optional tools inside the same ecosystem.

Where Homeo AI is the better fit

Homeo AI is the more direct fit when the difficult work happens before a repertory result exists. Its workflow begins with the practitioner's ordinary notes, keeps the original expression available, proposes an editable symptom structure, surfaces candidate mappings and source passages, and supports a documented differential that can be revisited at follow-up.

That emphasis gives the clinic a different unit of value. Instead of counting books or modules, it can measure whether the tool preserved location, sensation, modality, chronology, intensity, and qualifiers; whether the practitioner could repair a wrong mapping quickly; and whether another reviewer could understand the final choice.

Browser delivery also changes setup. Homeo AI does not require a 50 GB desktop installation or a support-led local install. That can help a clinic using several current devices, but it creates dependence on connectivity, account access, browser behavior, and service availability. The clinic should test those dependencies rather than treating cloud access as automatically simpler or safer.

Homeo AI is not a replacement for every licensed Synergy source. A combined workflow may be reasonable if Viva remains the source and analysis environment while Homeo AI structures notes and records review. It is only useful if the handoff avoids double entry and makes clear which system holds the authoritative record.

Price the actual configuration

Start with a written Synergy manifest. List the core Viva edition, every required repertory and reference work, language, Genie, any other add-ons, installation, support, upgrade rights, devices, taxes, and regional pricing. Ask what remains usable if an update or online service ends. Confirm whether a module price is a lifetime license, a version-specific entitlement, or a service with continuing charges.

For Genie, ask for written answers about included usage, any additional query or token charges, model provider, internet requirement, prompt retention, source linkage, and how a suggestion enters the clinical record. The public add-on catalogue establishes the displayed purchase price, but it does not answer all operating-cost or data-flow questions.

For Homeo AI, record the current plan and measure review time. Count the minutes spent cleaning notes, correcting the symptom structure, checking source passages, rejecting mappings, documenting the differential, and preparing the next visit. The comparison should use completed cases and repair burden, not a feature count.

A reproducible clinic test

Prepare ten completed, de-identified cases that represent the clinic's normal variety. Remove names, contact details, dates of birth, faces, document numbers, exact visit dates, and rare combinations that could identify a person. Keep a separate answer sheet with the original narrative, accepted totality, source passages checked, rejected interpretations, and documented reason for the final differential.

On a supported test computer, install the exact Synergy Viva edition and Genie configuration being quoted. For each case, record how long it takes to enter the narrative, identify candidate rubrics, verify them in the licensed sources, compare remedies, save the analysis, reopen the record, and export or print a readable copy. Note which Genie suggestions link to exact rubrics or references, which require manual searching, and how quickly a wrong suggestion can be corrected. Restore the sample from backup on a second approved machine before relying on the configuration.

In Homeo AI, submit the same de-identified narratives. Record which proposed symptoms and mappings are accepted, edited, or rejected; whether the cited passages support the decision; how long correction takes; and whether a second practitioner can reconstruct the reasoning. Reopen five cases as follow-ups and check that new observations do not overwrite baseline facts.

Use one scoring sheet:

1. Minutes to a reviewable case structure. 2. Material interpretation errors. 3. Missing or ambiguous source support. 4. Time required to correct an error. 5. Source and rubric traceability. 6. Backup, export, and restore completeness. 7. Device and connectivity dependence. 8. Follow-up continuity. 9. Total three-year software, content, support, and administration cost.

The clinic should weight each measure before testing. Otherwise a visually impressive module can overshadow the workflow failure the purchase was meant to solve.

Privacy, migration, and known limits

An installed application can keep more work local, but installation alone does not prove that every Genie prompt, activation request, support session, update, or synced feature stays on the device. The public product pages reviewed do not provide enough detail to infer the full Genie data path. Ask Synergy to identify processors, storage locations, retention, deletion, access, and support practices in writing before using identifiable records.

Homeo AI needs the same scrutiny. Confirm account roles, processing, retention, deletion, export, incident handling, and service continuity. A browser interface does not by itself prove compliant handling. Keep trials de-identified until the clinic has approved the complete data path.

Legacy MacRepertory and ReferenceWorks users should migrate with copies, not the only record. Export a small sample, preserve the old machine or disk image, compare patient fields and free text, verify source references, test attachments, and restore a backup. Do not retire the source system until the destination can produce a complete readable record.

Both tools can propose incomplete or incorrect structures, rubrics, references, or differentials. Vendor descriptions and software output are not independent clinical validation. Neither tool should make an emergency-care decision or replace diagnosis, referral, emergency care, practitioner judgment, prescription, potency, dosage, or follow-up responsibility.

Conditional verdict

Choose Synergy Viva with Genie if the clinic values Synergy's installed source library and analysis environment, wants optional AI inside that ecosystem, and can verify the full edition, data path, installation, backup, support, and three-year cost. Its advantage is integration with a mature desktop workflow.

Choose Homeo AI if the clinic's larger problem is converting narrative notes into a transparent and correctable analysis trail that remains understandable through follow-ups. Its advantage must appear as fewer material translation errors, faster review, and clearer reasoning.

Use both only when one authoritative record and a tested handoff are defined. The right answer depends on the clinic's measured bottleneck, not the number of modules or the novelty of the AI label.
